Fathers & Sons Enjoy Camp on Fall Weekend!

This past weekend Camp Sea Gull hosted our annual Father-Son weekend. Fathers and their sons participated in all camp activities and enjoyed spending time together. It was a great opportunity for many alumni to return to camp as well as a great introduction to camp for many dads and sons.

The Best Vacation Ever!

Families have been packing their suitcases full so far this week. A class on Racing Rules and Tactics set the stage for a lively mid-week regatta on both sunfish and scots today. Steady southwest winds have made sailing a popular activity, though we'd never count out bumper tubing.

So much to do, so little time left...

An early morning start meant that some campers had a great day in the sound catching some big puppy drum. Back at camp the sunfish were rigged and ready to go!

There is so much happening this last week - the ski show, introduction to some of the larger SG/SF vessels, tie-dye day at Creative Arts and the Campwide Talent Show.

Stayin' cool!

A camper favorite: nurses delivering icee pops!

Jeep trips!

A brief rain shower in the morning just made the jeep trails muddier and much more fun! Before the trip and after the trip :)

Special Show

Slightly overcast skies and cooler temperatures made for a great day for powerboating cruises, playing the course at golf, and attending a special Magic Show by The Amazing Andy (aka Dr. Schneider, a long-time volunteer physician). There was a great crowd at the late afternoon show and the Program Center was the perfect venue. Later on there was no better way to end the day than to have fun with friends then head to the Talent Show!

Catchin' the Big Ones

Campers have been very successful hauling in some big fish. This week, campers working on their upper fishing ranks enjoyed our own "Little Rock" fishing tournament.
Fishermen of the Big Rock... look out!

Band at the Dance

Our second session campers enjoy the thrill of a live band during their third dance.

Off to the Races

Campers have enjoyed our new peddle go-carts, racing them during cabin nights and free hour.

The Big Kahuna Cup

During the third week of 2nd session the Seafarer staffs have been striving to attract campers to their activities. They are graded on a variety of areas such as enthusiasm, creativity, the number of campers at the activity during the day, cheers in the dining hall, etc. It has been a blast for all of us as the staff members have tried to out-do each other this week :)

Third Week Fun!

We kicked off the week in style with a Vespers service led by our super CILTs, skits galore, and creative enticements to attend activities. The Mariners II campers have hit the ground running and are already having fun and earning ranks.

Activity Challenge Cup (ACC)

Today kicked off our 6th Annual Activity Challenge Cup competition. This awesome week-long event gives each activity the opportunity to showcase the best of instruction, creativity and fun. Campers support their favorite activity and the leaderboard is updated each night at dinner. We'll keep you posted throughout the week.

Bill Adams Regatta

This weekend Sea Gull hosted over 100 alumni and friends for the 3rd Annual William J. Adams, IV, regatta. Our alumni teamed with campers and staff for an afternoon of high wind sailing excitement on the water. The end of the pier was packed with spectators cheering on the fleet.

Rockin' Saturday

Big Kahuna fever is heating up and skits in the dining hall are getting more creative by the day. The temperatures have also been higher than usual, prompting more time at water activities and icee pop runs by the nurses. Even the horses think an icee pop is a good idea!

The Fun has Just Begun

Although it was toasty today, campers enjoyed a fast ride down the Otter Slide...and the motorboaters kicked off The Big Kahuna challenge in style with a Harry Potter-themed experience.

Two weeks gone already?

It's hard to believe that the first session of Mariners is over. Not only were there some great accomplishments, the campers made lots of new friends, learned some new skills and had fun! A closing campfire with s'mores was the perfect ending.

Love those Optis

The wind was perfect for every kind of sailing today - from the largest boats to the smallest. Here campers work on sailing skills in their Opti clinic while the staff coach from nearby.

Improving swim strokes

We were fortunate to have Brooks Enser from the Y of the Triangle Swim Team here today to work with the Seafarer swim team.

Sea Gull Winds are Blowing!

Campers enjoy an exciting sail out aboard the Southwind, one of our larger cruising sailboats. Take note of the camper at the helm. That's good stuff!

Slingin' Mud

Campers enjoy getting messy on our special Jeep trips!
